Silicone resin plastersSilicone resin plasters

Silicone resin plasters ensure optimum weather protection
Thanks to the excellent physical properties conferred on them by the silicone resin binder, silicone resin plasters offer better weather protection than any other modern plaster. This is because they combine the useful properties of mineral plasters with those of polymer bound plasters. The microporous structure of the plaster makes it highly water repellent – even against driving rain – but at the same time permeable to water vapor and CO2. The facade is accordingly able to breathe and remains permanently dry, rendering it more resistant to external influences. Additional advantages of these plasters include low dirt pick-up, outstanding resistance to weathering, microbial attack, aggressive airborne pollutants and UV radiation. They are also easy to clean.

Properties

Plasters are characterized primarily by their binders
In the case of silicone resin plasters, the binder is silicone resin, which is responsible for the plaster’s useful properties.
In recommendation SIA 242/1, the Swiss Society of Civil Engineers and Architects, classifies plasters according to their binders. Silicone resin plaster should contain: plaster mortar comprising aggregates, additives and a silicone resin binder; it may contain an emulsion binder comprising up to 5 wt. % of the mortar, expressed as solids.
The German Fachgemeinschaft Kunstharzputze (Technical Committee on Polymer Plasters) describes silicone resin plaster as follows: polymer emulsion + silicone resin emulsion (< 6% organics as supplied, in a ratio of about 2:1, expressed as solids), e.g. 8 pbw polymer emulsion to 4 pbw silicone resin emulsion.
